Overview of Kybella
KYBELLA® is a prescription medicine used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat). Approved by FDA, Kybella® is an effective option for individuals seeking facial contouring without surgery.
The Active Ingredient in Kybella® is deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. Deoxycholic acid in Kybella® disrupts the membranes of fat cells, causing them to break down and be naturally eliminated by the body’s metabolic processes.
Will Kybella® work for me?
A consultation with a qualified healthcare professional is conducted to assess your individual suitability for Kybella®. During this consultation a provider will assess the treatment area and discuss your short & long-term treatment goals.
How many Kybella® sessions will I need?
Kybella® is administered through a series of injections directly into the targeted fat beneath the chin. The number of sessions needed varies based on individual factors. Often, but not always, at least 3 treatments are required for optimal results.
Will I have downtime?
Kybella® typically involves minimal downtime, and most individuals can resume their regular activities shortly after the treatment. Some of the common side effects of Kybella® include swelling and redness in the treatment area. Although it can not be determined with certainty, clients commonly report that their swelling last about a week.
How quickly will I see results?
Most commonly, results are not immediate, but gradual. Typically, clients notice a reduction in the appearance of the volume in the treatment area over several weeks to several months.
